It is my pleasure to send you Rapha’s webinar calendar for this fall. When we completed our research for the study on domestic violence and the Church in Quebec, one thing that stood out was the pressing need for training on domestic violence and its contribution to theology, intervention in Christian settings, and prevention.
 
The training sessions are free, thanks to the generosity of our donors.    I encourage you to consider making a donation to ensure the sustainability of this ministry.

"Responding to disclosures of domestic violence in church:
the good samaritan approach." (Part 1 + 2) - Rebecca Gauthier

Back by popular demand, this two-part webinar walks the participants through a simple yet impactful approach to listening, identifying and supporting someone when they divulge details about a violent relationship in their lives.
 
Rebecca Gauthier is a clinical nurse, sexual trauma responder, trainer and researcher. For the past 10 years she has accompanied victims and survivors of violence in both clinical and intervention settings. 
 
NB: This two-part webinar is the English version of the same series offered in French last year.
 
 
"Understanding Sexual Violence in Marriage: How Should Christians Respond ?" - Saryka Pierre

While domestic violence is already a challenging topic to address in Christian circles, sexual violence as a form of domestic abuse remains even more taboo. Ms. Saryka Pierre will lead this webinar to help us unpack this essential yet sensitive issue.
 
Saryka Pierre is a sexual health practitioner, a support counselor, and the coordinator of a shelter for women survivors of violence.
 
The webinar will be conducted in French.

"God’s Design for Couples: Biblical Perspectives from the Beginning of Genesis." - Valérie Duval-Pujol

When supporting survivors of domestic violence in Christian contexts, it is essential to have solid guidance on this issue, especially since the Bible has often been misused as a tool for widespread submission.
 
Valérie Duval-Poujol is a theologian, biblical scholar, and activist against domestic violence. She holds a PhD in the History of Religions and Religious Anthropology, as well as a PhD in Theology.

"When the void stares back into you." - Rev. Chaplain Rielly McLaren

Through storytelling and on-the-ground experiences of working with ex-offenders, we will seek to understand the ways anger, narratives about masculinity, and religious justifications perpetuate harm or nurture safety and healing.
 
For 18 years, Rielly has served as a post-prison restorative justice chaplain in federal corrections at St. Leonard’s House, Windsor. 
 
The webinar will be conducted in English.

It is an opportunity to grow together, find support and healing, and unite in prayer to face these realities with faith and courage.
